After he was admitted to the hospital in Agartala, he was under observation by the doctor. After some time, Tripura’s health secretary Kiran Gitte confirmed that Mayank Agarwal is out of danger now.
Now, Mayank Agarwal also gives a massive update on his health via his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. Agarwal thanked everyone for their support during this hard time. He posted two pictures of him lying on the hospital bed and captioned – “I am feeling better now. Gearing up to come back. Thank you for prayers, love and support, everyone.”

What has happened?
It was an incident happened when Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy squad, led by Mayank Agarwal was travelling from Agartala to Delhi. On a flight, he saw a liquid pouch and consumed thinking it to be water. Just before the flight took off, he fell ill and complained of stomach pain as well.
He was offloaded from the flight and rushed to the hospital in Agartala. The flight took off again at 4:20 after Agarwal was safely rushed to the hospital for medical assistance.
Indigo Airlines issued a press release after that incident. They released a statement – “IndiGo flight 6E 5177 operating from Agartala to Delhi returned to origin due to a medical emergency onboard. The passenger was offloaded and taken to the hospital for further medical attention. In the early afternoon of 1620, the aircraft made its way back to its destination.”
The Tripura’s health secretary said Mayank Agarwal had a burning sensation after he consumed that pouch. He also said that Agarwal’s condition is stable and hopes that he will come out of it soon. The incident caused him ulcers and swelling in his mouth.
Quoted from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), said the cricketer is not in any kind of danger. The official said they will fly Agarwal back after they get an update from the doctor.
Mayank Agarwal lodged a police complaint
Although the proper reason is still unknown on what was in the pouch, Mayank Agarwal has lodged a police complaint. The police are now investigating this matter.
Kiran Kumar K, the Superintendent of Police of West Tripura told PTI that Agarwal’s manager has made a complaint. He also said we are registering the complaint and will investigate further in this matter.
Mayank Agarwal will miss the next game
Mayank Agarwal will not feature in the next Ranji Trophy game against Railways in Surat, starting on February 02. He led the team to a 29-run victory against Tripura in the last game. The Karnataka will miss the services of their regular captain for a while.
Nikin Jose will most likely take away the captaincy role in the absence of Mayank Agarwal.
