Prithvi Shaw talked about his immediate goal

The star batter picked up a knee injury during his County Stint with Northamptonshire last year. Due to injury, he missed most parts of the domestic season including Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). Before the injury, Prithvi Shaw has done well for Northamptonshire, scoring 429 runs in 4 games with an average of 143. He played a record-breaking knock of 244 against Somerset before smashing 126 against Durham.

Now, after injury, Shaw talked about his immediate goal going forward. The right-handed batter said he was not thinking too far ahead. He just wanted to contribute to the team and win Ranji Trophy with Mumbai.

Prithvi Shaw, in an interview with The Indian Express, said – “I’m focused on the present and not looking too far ahead. I’m just happy to be back playing cricket after my injury. I want to give my best, aiming to win the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. I’ll contribute as much as I can towards that goal.”

While talking about the emotions he has carried after a comeback, he stressed about good body language and not feeling nervous.

“I wasn’t nervous, but it felt a bit strange when I started batting again. However, I did a practice match and kept telling myself everything would be okay. My body language was good.” – Shaw added.

Prithvi Shaw Runs Scored in This Ranji Trophy Season

Prithvi Shaw made a comeback with a Ranji game against Bengal. In the first inning, he got a quick start of 35 runs off just 42 balls, including 5 fours. But he didn’t convert that start into a big score. Mumbai scored 412 in the first inning and won the game by an innings and 4 runs.

Bhupen also scored 102 runs off 238 balls with 10 fours. At one stage, Mumbai was looking set to post a big first-inning total. But after that partnership, they collapsed and bowled out for 351.

Mumbai just took a one-run lead in the first inning. Prithvi Shaw again got a quick start in the 2nd inning of this match. He scored 45 runs off 58 balls with 6 fours before Shubham Singh got him out in the 21st over. Right now, Mumbai is leading by 135 runs with Bhupen Lalwani and captain Ajinkya Rahane at the crease.

Prithvi Shaw played his last game for Team India in 2021 against Sri Lanka in a T20I game in Colombo. Till now, he has played five tests, six ODIs, and one T20I for Team India.
