The Indian Cricket Team gets some relief before the ICC World Cup 2023 as some of the players get back to the field after their respective injuries. India has been missing the services of some of their best players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, P Krishna, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer. All of them are very crucial members of the Indian setup. Today, we will talk about one of the crucial members of the Indian Team, Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh Pant Recovery Update – What’s the progress?
Rishabh Pant has started batting and wicket-keeping drills in the nets. He has been recovering well after his injury last year. He has also been following his fitness program which includes strength, flexibility, and running.
A Good Sign For Indian Cricket
It is a very good sign for Indian Team as Rishabh Pant has been an X-Factor for the team in the last couple of years. His recovery will help the team as his come back will be sooner than expected a few months ago. He met with an accident on December 30 when his car collided with a divider. He got multiple injuries after that incident and went for some surgeries.
A few months ago, there were speculations that Rishabh Pant has to undergo another minor surgery but his doctors confirms the news and said another surgery was not needed.
Now that Rishabh Pant started his fitness regime, he will be back to playing days earlier.
BCCI’s Statement Regarding Pant’s Recovery
“He has made significant progress in his rehab and has commenced batting as well as wicketkeeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness designed for him which includes strength, flexibility, and running.” – Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement read.
Rishabh Pant’s car accident
On the eve of New Year, Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was involved in a terrible car accident. Around 5:30 am, the 25-year-old’s car crashed into a divider and took fire on the highway near Roorkee in Uttarakhand as he was making his way to his home. He was going to meet their relatives. During the collision, he suffered injuries to his head, knee, shin, and back.
When will he be back?
Frankly speaking, it is highly unlikely that he will feature in any professional cricket this year. We will see him playing maybe in 2024. However, it is still a positive thing because, at one point after that terrible event, it appeared like he might miss cricket for a longer amount of time.
But it all depends on how fast he recovers from his injury. Team India would love to have him in the ICC World Cup 2023. Let’s see what happens.
Last international appearance of Rishabh Pant
Before the injury, Rishabh Pant played his last international game against Bangladesh on December 22. 2022 at Shere Bangla National Stadium. It was a test match that India won by 3 wickets. He also scored 93 runs in the first inning.
Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna also making good progress
In the same BCCI statement, they told about Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna’s recovery update. Both the pacers have started bowling in the nets and bowling with ‘full intensity.’ It is a good sign for the team as they are missing the options in their pace battery. Especially Jasprit Bumrah has missed so much cricket in the last year or so. He has been a valuable asset to the team for the last 6-7 years.
Iyer, Rahul also shared their practice videos
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also shared their practice videos. Currently, they are doing rehab at NCA. A video came out where KL Rahul was just knocking the balls indoors.
We can expect Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer to be fit for the Ireland series in August.
All this news is good for Indian cricket. Team India has a very important Asia Cup and a World Cup to play this year. And they need all their best players to be fit before the ICC World Cup 2023.
